Summary of the CDA Process
1. Satisfy the training & work experience requirements:
- Complete 120 clock hours of formal childcare training. You can use Care Courses' online or CourseBook CDA courses to meet this requirement.
- Get 480 hours of work experience with children in your CDA Setting.
2. Prepare your application materials:
- Purchase a CDA Competency Standards book in your CDA Setting from the Council.
- Develop your Professional Portfolio following instructions in the Standards book.
3. Apply:
- Find a Professional Development Specialist.
- Complete the CDA application online and submit your $425 application fee.
4. Demonstrate your knowledge and skills:
- Schedule a Verification Visit with your Professional Development Specialist.
- Schedule your CDA Exam with Pearson VUE.
- Take the CDA Exam at a Pearson VUE center.
